Many of the trees in King George Park have exceeded their natural life span and have been irreversibly damaged by invasive insects. These trees are dead and constitute a real safety problem for users.
The city has developed a 5-year action plan to ensure that a new life cycle takes root in King George Park.
Over the 5 years of the project, the following interventions are planned:
- 89 trees to be felled
- 137 trees to be secured (pruning, cabling and bracing)
- 180 trees to be planted
The project will be carried out in several phases. As the project evolves, the type and quantity of interventions may be subject to change.
Phase 3 of the project, scheduled for 2024, includes the following interventions:
- 7 trees to be felled
- 59 trees to be secured (pruning, cabling and bracing)
- 33 trees to be planted
