Won’t less frequent collections create smell or rodent issues?

Household garbage collection occurs every 2 weeks only during the colder months, when outdoor temperatures are not conducive to rot and unpleasant odours. Also, over 1/3 of typical household garbage on average is food waste, which is the type of waste most likely to attract animals or become smelly. By participating in the weekly food waste (compost) collection, rotting and other issues that can lead to animal problems or smells are generally avoided. The separate collection of food waste also greatly reduces the amount of garbage sent to landfill.
