Westmount Park: Revitalisation Project

Westmount Park, the City’s oldest public green space, was created in 1892. The original woods, streams and ravines were extended and landscaped over the years to create the much-appreciated urban green refuge it is today.

About the Project

Westmount Park, the City’s oldest public green space, was created in 1892. The original woods, streams and ravines were extended and landscaped over the years to create the much-appreciated urban green refuge it is today.

Certain elements have deteriorated with time and use, however. The watercourse, the concrete and the brick pathways are in need of improvement, and plant overgrowth is a problem.

City council has committed to invest in the restoration of this jewel, and wants residents to provide their opinions on improving the park’s accessibility, inclusiveness, and sustainability while preserving its heritage. An improvement plan for Westmount Park will be based on public consultations, beginning with a survey of residents and a public session with participatory workshops.
